Whole Body Vibration

Strong, Confident, and Ready to Move with WBV

Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is an exciting addition to pediatric physical therapy that helps kids improve their strength, coordination, and confidence.

By standing on or placing parts of their body on a vibrating platform, children can experience all kinds of benefits that support their growth and development!

How Does Whole Body Vibration Work?

WBV is all about stimulating the body to work in new, effective ways.

During a session, your child will sit, stand, or lie on a vibrating platform that delivers gentle pulses of energy through their muscles and joints. These vibrations cause the muscles to contract and relax rapidly (up to) several times a second.

This process helps:

Warm-Up Muscles

  • Getting the body ready for activity by increasing blood flow and flexibility.

Reduce Muscle Spasticity

  • Relaxing tight muscles and encouraging more natural, comfortable movement.

Over time, the benefits of WBV can include:

Stronger Bones

  • The vibrations encourage bone development, increasing bone density and supporting overall growth.

Improved Muscle Mass and Strength

  • Building the muscles kids need for daily activities like walking, running, and playing.

Better Mobility and Gait

  • Helping children develop smoother, more confident movement patterns.

A Win-Win for Progress and Positivity

Whole Body Vibration isn’t just effective—it’s also fun! The vibrations create a unique sensory experience that many kids find enjoyable. This makes therapy sessions more engaging and helps kids look forward to their time working on mobility and strength.

When Is WBV a Good Fit for Your Child?

Whole Body Vibration can be a great tool for kids who:

  • Have muscle tightness or spasticity.

  • Need to improve strength, posture, or balance.

  • Are working on improving their gait or mobility.

Our pediatric physical therapists will assess your child’s needs to determine if WBV is a good option and ensure that sessions are safe, supportive, and goal-oriented.
